I like windows.
Just think about it. People like windows. Any coffee shop I’ve ever been to has walls almost entirely made up of windows. Windows with little tables sitting next to them where you can sit there, read, and sip on your coffee, occassionally peering through the window into the world. People like windows. Because light comes in and you can see out. Yeah, I like windows.
But what I like most about windows is that when I’m inside and everything around me (the ceiling, the floor, the walls) is shouting, “This is all that there is! There’s nothing more!” The window says something different. The window says, “Look through me. There’s so much more.”
But, windows in and of themselves aren’t anything at all. It’s a pane of glass. It’s nothing. You just see through it. Windows exist solely to let you see what’s on the other side.

I like the Bible. I’m a Bible major. It’s what I do — it’s what I want to do. I want to learn about and teach the Bible. But, the Bible in and of itself is just words.
In Jesus’s day there were people called scribes. Scribes devoted their lives to knowing the Scriptures. They studied and taught. Jesus said to them, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.” Jesus says something bold in that statement. He says, “Everything that is written in the Scriptures is about me.”

This website is not just a Bible study. It’s not just a place where we can discuss what the Bible says and learn more to feel good about ourselves or even to make God happy.
The point of this website is so we can know Jesus more.
When everything in this world and in life says, “This is all that there is! There’s nothing else! You’re just going to die.” It’s not words that can save you, but Jesus. Words won’t do anything, but Jesus has done everything.
The words of Scripture point us to Jesus who says, “Come to me!” Who beckons to us, “Follow me!” And says, “I stand at the door and knock.” It’s Jesus who’s after us. It’s Jesus who wants us. And it’s Jesus who saves us.
This is not just a Bible study. We’re peering through Scripture to see the face of God. We aren’t looking to the Bible for life. We’re looking at the Bible to know who Jesus is. And it’s Jesus who has life.
